First Impressions: The Location and Atmosphere

Kross Brewery is, seemingly, situated outside Santiago, that’s the capital city, which makes for a refreshing escape, you know? The location, just to let you know, adds a bit of a rural touch, yet is still easily accessible. As I got closer, the brewery kinda revealed itself like a hidden gem. It’s not, actually, some huge industrial setup, in that case, it’s got a nice, kinda homey vibe that sets it apart. You’ve got to understand that the air just kinda smelled like brewing, so, you know, a promising start. The building itself is, basically, inviting, almost in a rustic way, actually giving you a hint of the care and effort they dedicate to the craft.

The Tour: Getting Behind the Scenes

The tour guides there were, generally, knowledgeable, actually leading our group through the various stages of beer production. Learning, at the end of the day, about the ingredients they utilize – the hops, the malts, and so on – was truly illuminating. They’re not, seemingly, cutting corners, in fact they import a lot of ingredients from, arguably, different parts. The process itself, pretty much from milling the grain to fermenting the beer, definitely received the spotlight, but the guides, just so you know, didn’t bore us with excessively technical stuff; I thought they did a fairly good job of explaining the equipment and overall procedure with clarity, and with just a touch of humor. Viewing the gleaming tanks and the bottling line definitely offered, apparently, a real sense for how a brewery operates on, perhaps, a medium scale, actually giving a picture that’s distinct, just to compare, from bigger operations. You got a feeling, in some respects, that these people, arguably, take pride in what they produce, so, in other words, this helped shape, at the end of the day, an awesome experience.

Beer Tasting: A Flight of Flavors

The highlight, obviously, and for most of us, that’s likely the beer tasting. Kross does offer a wide array of brews, very from light lagers, if that’s what you fancy, basically, to really robust stouts, so that gives folks opportunities to test the water on the spectrum that these people manufacture. As I recall, we received a flight containing smaller samples of different beers, and it was fun testing what each one brought. The Kross Pils, pretty well balanced, as I remember, with subtle hops, and, for instance, the Kross Stout, rich with coffee hints, basically made a remarkable impression on me. The beers came accompanied, in that case, by descriptions, so you knew what, like your supposed to, pick out from the nose, taste, and so forth. Tasting, as a matter of fact, the diversity that’s possible with beer makes me rate it high as a place to try for those who feel, mostly, indifferent to what can get produced commercially.

The Kross Bar and Shop: More Than Just Beer

The tour came with a stop in the Kross bar. Very, very cool location. You can order pints of all their brews, of course, in fact the bar served as, seemingly, the hangout after the tour concluded. Folks would trade opinions, more or less, about their beloved beers, in some respects just enjoying the camaraderie around great craft beer, too it’s almost like the heart of the operation, when you consider that a community seems to spring up. Moreover, there’s a shop adjacent, seemingly, stocked with Kross-branded goodies. So there’s clothing available, together with glassware, as well as, that goes without saying, bottles and cans of their various beers. Getting a six-pack for the road is, basically, mandatory. You definitely might want, even though I did not, snag something from the shop; the glassware in specific looks awesome.
